The Supervisor Development Program (SDP) offers new and existing Supervisors an opportunity to build their skills through a focus on process management, project management, the City of Albuquerque’s Rules and Regulations, and the City of Albuquerque’s core values.


This course is required for all new and existing supervisors to complete within one year of accepting a supervisory position. The program offers attendees the chance to work with peers throughout the City of Albuquerque, design and implement a process improvement project in their work area, meet with leaders throughout the organization, and learn on a variety of subjects necessary for leading in public service including:

 

  • Process Management
  • Performance Measurement
  • Responsibilities of leadership
  • Giving feedback
  • Core OSHA Safety
  • EEO, ADA, and Discrimination
  • Ethics in Public Service
  • Labor Relations
  • Human Behavior
  • Managing Change
  • Risk Management
  • Harassment and Violence Prevention
  • The City of Albuquerque Rules and Regulations
  • Behavior based interviewing

 

SDP Class

 

Public Service University offers five sessions of the Supervisor Development Program each fiscal year. The class meets every Wednesday for seven weeks. Only individuals with EEO, ADA, and Discrimination or are in a supervisory position may attend. Attendees must receive approval from their direct Supervisor and Department Director to participate.
