I have worked in personnel and human resource administration for 24 years, both in retail and in higher education settings. My responsibilities have included hiring, orienting, training, performance evaluations, coaching, and dispute resolution. My strengths include recognizing and utilizing the skills of employees to establish and meet their goals while helping them to achieve the goals of the department. I use my interpersonal, communication, customer service, time management and public relations skills to work effectively in this capacity.
Currently, I am the Fiscal and Planning Officer for the University of New Mexico’s Division of Student Affairs, which oversees 20 departments. My duties include managing personnel requisitions and documentation, directing and approving budgets, developing and monitoring fiscal reports, supervising purchasing approvals, program assessment and evaluation, and coordinating training programs. I participate in collaborative committees on various UNM-wide projects, develop and submit special reports, and serve as the Vice President’s main representative and liaison.
I have served on the City of Albuquerque’s Personnel Board for the last two years. The Board has established a commitment to fairness as we meet each month to consider the petitions presented.
