RFBs are required for purchases of goods over $10,000 that are not in City inventories or on existing City contracts.

A Request for Bid (RFB) is a solicitation for goods and/or services, where price is the determining factor. In other words, if you know the specific details about the goods or services you need, an RFB is used to determine the lowest bidder among various vendors.

To begin the procurement process for an RFB, requestors must submit an approved Purchase Requisition and Disbursement or Property Item Requisitions, depending on the type of purchase, to the Purchasing division with specifications and any other supporting documentation that may be required for the solicitation. The requisition will be assigned to a Senior Buyer who will solicit the RFB and award a contract to the vendor with the best price meeting all requirements. The Senior Buyer will work with the requestor through this process. Cooperation and timeliness of requestors in this process is vital to the time frame in which a solicitation is completed and a contract issued.
